# Link a CRM / telephony identifier to a member (idempotent)

`PUT /workspace/members/{user_id}/identities`

## Request

## Request body

- Identity
  - `provider` string, required: Your label for the external system, e.g. hubspot, aircall
  - `external_id` string, required: Identifier in that system, matched exactly

## Response `200`

Already linked to this member

- Identity

  - `external_id` string, required: Identifier in that system, matched exactly

## Other responses

- `201`: Linked
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key, or key passed in the URL.
- `403`: Plan without API access, or key lacks the required permission.
- `404`: Not an active member of the workspace
- `409`: Identifier is linked to another member
- `422`: Invalid provider or external_id
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
