# A recovery sequence changed.

`POST sequence.updated` (webhook)

### When this fires

A creator renamed the sequence, moved it to another trigger, switched it on or off, or added, rewrote or removed a step on the Revenue Recovery page. Every save fires it, so a consumer always holds the snapshot after the latest write. Switching a sequence off also lets every member part-way through it go, each as `sequence.exited` with the reason `disabled`, and enrols nobody new until it runs again.

### Caveats

- **Positions move, enrolments do not.** A member who was due the removed step receives the step that took its place, and a member past the last remaining step completes on the next sweep. Read the steps by id if you track one.
- A sequence may hold up to 8 steps. The ninth is refused on the dashboard and fires nothing.

### Related events

- `sequence.created`: the sequence was built.
- `sequence.exited`: the members let go when the sequence was switched off.
- `sequence.deleted`: the sequence was deleted.

## Headers

- `SB-Signature` string, required
- `SB-Event-Id` string, required
- `SB-Event-Name` string, required
- `Content-Type` string, required
- `User-Agent` string, required

## Payload

- object: The envelope every event is delivered in.
  - `id` string, required: A ULID unique to the event, prefixed `evt_`. Every retry carries the same id, so it is the key to deduplicate on.
  - `type` 'sequence.updated', required: The event name, always `sequence.updated` here.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When the event was emitted, server time, ISO 8601.
  - `api_version` string, required: The contract version of the payload shape, `2026-05-01` today. A breaking change to a shape ships under a new version.
  - `project_id` string, uuid, nullable, required: The project the event belongs to; null for team-scoped and billing events.
  - `data` object, required: The event-specific payload. Keys that do not apply to a given emission are omitted rather than sent as null, so check for presence.
    - `sequence` object, required: The sequence snapshot after the write; the same shape as on `sequence.created`.
      - `id` string, uuid, required: The sequence's UUID.
      - `name` string, required: Creator-facing label as it stands now.
      - `trigger` 'churned' | 'lead' | 'stalled_checkout' | 'trial_ending', required: What enrols a member now.
      - `active` boolean, required: Whether the sequence enrols and sends now. `false` after it was switched off.
      - `steps` object[], required: The steps in order after the write.
      - `steps[]` object, required: One step of the sequence.
        - `id` string, uuid, required: The step's UUID. A rewritten step keeps its id; a removed one is gone from the list.
        - `position` integer, required: The step's place, contiguous from 1. Removing a step moves the ones after it up.
        - `delay_days` integer, required: Days after the trigger for the first step (0 to 180; 0 is the next hourly run), after the step before for the rest (1 to 180).
        - `coupon_id` string, uuid, nullable, required: The project coupon the step carries, or `null`.
      - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When the sequence was built.
      - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: When this write landed.
      - `deleted_at` string, date-time, nullable, required: Always `null` on this event; deleting fires `sequence.deleted`.

## Acknowledgement `2XX`

Your endpoint acknowledged the delivery. Any 2xx status within 30 seconds marks it delivered; the response body is ignored.

## Other responses

- `default`: Any other status, a connection failure, or no answer within 30 seconds counts as a failed attempt. The delivery is retried 8 times, after 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 2 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 3 days; the last failure dead-letters it, and it can be retried from the dashboard or `POST /v1/webhook-deliveries/{delivery}/retry`. After 20 consecutive failures the endpoint is paused until it is resumed.
