# A cancelling member took the offer the cancellation screen made.

`POST subscription.offer_taken` (webhook)

### When this fires

A member on the cancellation screen accepted the one offer the project makes for their rail: a pause for one billing cycle where the rail can hold the charge (Stripe, PayPal), a discount on the renewals where the rail can carry a coupon (Stripe), or a coupon to come back with everywhere else. A pause holds the charge at the gateway and pauses access, and the hourly sweep lets the member back in when `resumes_at` passes; a discount is minted once at the gateway and applied to the subscription; a return coupon is handed to the member on the screen and in a chat message, and the cancellation goes on. The offer is re-derived when the member accepts, so a stale screen cannot claim an offer the project no longer makes.

### Caveats

- A pause taken here keeps the subscription: it reads as `paused` until `resumes_at`, and no `subscription.cancelled` follows. A return coupon does not: the cancellation goes on and `subscription.cancelled` fires as usual.
- A member sees one offer per cancellation. Declining it fires nothing; the shown offer is still counted on the cancellation record.

- object: The envelope every event is delivered in.
  - `id` string, required: A ULID unique to the event, prefixed `evt_`. Every retry carries the same id, so it is the key to deduplicate on.
  - `type` 'subscription.offer_taken', required: The event name, always `subscription.offer_taken` here.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When the event was emitted, server time, ISO 8601.
  - `api_version` string, required: The contract version of the payload shape, `2026-05-01` today. A breaking change to a shape ships under a new version.
  - `project_id` string, uuid, nullable, required: The project the event belongs to; null for team-scoped and billing events.
  - `data` object, required: The event-specific payload. Keys that do not apply to a given emission are omitted rather than sent as null, so check for presence.
    - `cancellation_id` string, uuid, required: The cancellation record, the same one `subscription.cancellation_feedback` named when the project asked a reason.
    - `subscription_id` string, uuid, required: Subscription identifier.
    - `plan_id` string, uuid, required: The plan the subscription is on.
    - `subscriber_id` string, uuid, required: Subscriber's project-scoped user id.
    - `offer` 'pause' | 'discount' | 'return_coupon', required: Which offer was taken.
    - `coupon_code` string, nullable, required: The coupon code applied to the renewals (`discount`) or handed to the member (`return_coupon`); `null` for a pause.
    - `resumes_at` string, date-time, nullable, required: When a pause ends and the member is let back in; `null` for the other offers.

## Acknowledgement `2XX`

Your endpoint acknowledged the delivery. Any 2xx status within 30 seconds marks it delivered; the response body is ignored.

## Other responses

- `default`: Any other status, a connection failure, or no answer within 30 seconds counts as a failed attempt. The delivery is retried 8 times, after 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 2 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 3 days; the last failure dead-letters it, and it can be retried from the dashboard or `POST /v1/webhook-deliveries/{delivery}/retry`. After 20 consecutive failures the endpoint is paused until it is resumed.
