# Update an unposted business event

`PATCH /companies/{companyId}/business-events/{eventId}`

## Request

Events with a generated journal entry or schedule cannot be edited — void and recreate instead.

## Request body

- UpdateBusinessEventRequest: Only unposted events (no journal entry, no schedule) can be edited.

    - `idempotentReplay` boolean: True when a completed create operation was returned without creating or posting again. Posting failures/skips retain their own fields.

    - `payablesApItemId` string, uuid: #2529: the Payables (AP) item a posted vendor bill created or linked; its initial journal entry is this event's journal entry.

## Other responses

- `401`: Authentication required
- `403`: Insufficient permissions or not a company member
