# Delete an existing key backup.

`DELETE /_matrix/client/v3/room_keys/version/{version}`

## Request

Delete an existing key backup. Both the information about the backup,
as well as all key data related to the backup will be deleted.

## Path parameters

- `version` string, required

## Response `200`

The delete succeeded, or the specified backup was previously
deleted.

## Other responses

- `404`: The backup specified does not exist. If the backup was previously deleted, the call should succeed rather than returning an error.
- `429`: This request was rate-limited.
