# Find features within a radius

`GET /places/nearby`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mapsource.io`
- URL: `https://api.mapsource.io/places/nearby`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Returns named features or category matches within a radius, sorted by distance.

When to use: Find nearby amenities, infrastructure, or named features around a coordinate.

When not to use: Use Overpass QL for bounding-box queries or areas beyond the supported radius.

## Query parameters

- `lat` number, required
- `lon` number, required
- `radius` integer
- `category` string
- `limit` integer
