# Search valid Google Maps categories

`GET /api/v1/categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://mapsdata.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://mapsdata.ai/api/v1/categories`
- Auth: `MapsData API key` (a scheme the document does not define)

Search the Google Maps category taxonomy.

A scrape's `query` must be one of these, so this is normally the first call
an integration makes.

## Query parameters

- `q` string: Substring to match.
- `limit` integer

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- CategoryList
  - `data` Category[], required
    - `name` string, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not Found
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Too Many Requests
