# \`POST /map-issues\`: file a map-error report, or a driver's traffic report (the \`traffic-\*\` categories, see the module docs). Never edits map data: map-error reports are triaged by the team and verified fixes flow into the override file and upstream OSM.

`POST /map-issues`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mapmap.ai`
- URL: `https://api.mapmap.ai/map-issues`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in query parameter `api_key`

## Request body

- CreateMapIssueRequest: Body for `POST /map-issues`.
  - `category` string, required: One of [`CATEGORIES`], e.g. `"restriction-wrong"`.
  - `contact` string, nullable: Optional contact email for follow-up (trimmed, at most 200 bytes; length-checked only).
  - `heading_deg` number, double, nullable: Direction of travel in degrees clockwise from north, `0 <= x < 360`: the route's bearing at the reported position. Required for the `traffic-*` categories, optional otherwise.
  - `lat` number, double, required: Latitude of the problem, decimal degrees (WGS84), within [-90, 90].
  - `lon` number, double, required: Longitude of the problem, decimal degrees (WGS84), within [-180, 180].
  - `note` string, nullable: Optional free-form description (trimmed, at most 1000 bytes).

## Response `201`

Report stored for triage

- CreatedMapIssueResponse: Response for `POST /map-issues`.
  - `id` string, required: Report id (UUID v4).

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid category, out-of-bounds coordinates, over-long note/contact, heading_deg out of range, or a traffic report without heading_deg
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `429`: This key has hit its daily report cap
