# Propose a template mapping onto a target dataset

`POST /dashboards/v3/templates/resolve-mapping`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.mammoth.io/api/v2`
- URL: `https://app.mammoth.io/api/v2/dashboards/v3/templates/resolve-mapping`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-KEY` and API key in header `X-API-SECRET` and API key in header `X-WORKSPACE-ID`

Map a source v3 dashboard's field ROLES onto a target dataset: profile both datasets, score every source field against the target's columns, greedily assign one target field per role, and return the proposed mapping + a plain-language fidelity tally + the target's field lists (for the override pickers). Pure deterministic computation — no LLM, no writes — so it is synchronous (the profile builds run off the event loop). Auth: read on the source dashboard + the target dataview ACL.

## Request body

- ResolveTemplateMappingSpec: Resolve a template mapping onto a target dataset
  - `params` ResolveTemplateMappingParams, required
    - `source_dashboard_id` integer, required: The v3 dashboard to template from (read access required)
    - `target_dataview_id` integer, required: The dataview to re-bind the roles onto

## Response `200`

Proposed role→field mapping + fidelity report

- ResolveTemplateMappingResponse
  - `mapping` object, required
  - `fidelity` object, required
  - `target_fields` object

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request syntax or unsupported method
- `403`: Request forbidden -- authorization will not help
