# Turn an uploaded workbook into a dataset to build on

`POST /dashboards/v3/import/dataset`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.mammoth.io/api/v2`
- URL: `https://app.mammoth.io/api/v2/dashboards/v3/import/dataset`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-KEY` and API key in header `X-API-SECRET` and API key in header `X-WORKSPACE-ID`

One uploaded .twb / .twbx / .pbix -> a dataset landed in this workspace, plus the intent that will build a dashboard on it. Deliberately stops short of generating: POST the returned `intent` and `dataview_id` to /v3/generate, which already streams progress and reports failures. `data_source` says where the rows came from and must be shown to the user — today it is always `fitted_sample`, rows synthesised to fit the workbook's own fields, because a third of Tableau uploads carry no data.

## Response `201`

Document created, URL follows

- ObjectJobSchema
  - `status_code` integer, nullable
  - `job_id` integer, nullable: Created job id
  - `failure_reason` string, nullable: Failure reason if status is failure

## Other responses

- `202`: Workbook accepted; poll /jobs/{id} for the read or the import
- `400`: Bad request syntax or unsupported method
- `403`: Request forbidden -- authorization will not help
