# Editor chat transcript

`GET /dashboards/{dashboard_id}/chat`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.mammoth.io/api/v2`

- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-KEY` and API key in header `X-API-SECRET` and API key in header `X-WORKSPACE-ID`

The persisted chat conversation for the draft — the generation narration seeded as the first turn plus every chat-edit turn, carried forward across edits. Lets the editor restore its AI Chat thread after a reload (the client holds it in-session; this is the durable copy). Pass `sequence` for a specific version's transcript. Editor-gated like the draft canvas read it accompanies.

  - `messages` object[]
  - `sequence` integer, required: Version sequence the transcript was read from
  - `history_index` integer, nullable: The server-owned edit-timeline pointer (round-26): the index among the transcript's `changed` rows that the live canvas sits at. Every undo/redo/revert affordance is a pure function of the rows + this pointer, so a reload is byte-identical to the live session. null for a legacy transcript with no `changed` turn.
  - `revisions` ChatRevision[]: Every draft version, oldest first, with when it was saved and by whom — the history panel's author + time line.

    - `updated_by` integer, nullable
    - `updated_by_name` string, nullable

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request syntax or unsupported method
- `403`: Request forbidden -- authorization will not help
