# Reply to an email

`POST /inbox/messages/{id}/reply`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mailly.site` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.mailly.site/inbox/messages/{id}/reply`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Uses the governed, billed send path; on success the reply is written to the same thread with direction=outbound. Supports the `Idempotency-Key` header (8-200 characters of letters, digits, . _ : -).

- `id` string, required: Email ID

  - `to` string: Override recipient

## Response `200`

Reply result (passed through from the send path, JSON)

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid parameters
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `404`: Resource not found
- `500`: Server error
