# Create an inbox address

`POST /inbox/addresses`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mailly.site` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.mailly.site/inbox/addresses`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

The body is optional; prefix defaults to a random value and domain defaults to the platform domain. Up to 20 per account.

## Request body

- object
  - `prefix` string: Address prefix (lowercase letters, digits, . _ -). Role names such as support, info and admin, and names under 3 characters, are reserved on the platform domain only
  - `domain` string: Inbound domain (must be inbound verified)

## Response `200`

Created

- object
  - `success` boolean, required
  - `address` object, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid prefix or domain, or address limit reached
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `402`: Requires a mailbox plan
- `403`: Domain ownership is not verified, or the plan mailbox limit is reached
- `409`: Address already taken, or MX is not configured
- `500`: Creation failed
