# Verify email address

`GET /verify`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mailfloss.com`
- URL: `https://api.mailfloss.com/verify`
- Auth: API key in query parameter `api_key`

## Query parameters

- `api_key` string, required
- `email` string, required
- `timeout` integer

## Response `200`

successful operation

- Verify
  - `email` string: The checked email address
  - `suggestion` string: An email address suggestion, if one exists
  - `status` string: The status of the email address
  - `reason` string: The category of the email address
  - `role` boolean: True if email address is role-based
  - `disposable` boolean: True if email address is from a disposable domain service
  - `free` boolean: True if email address is from a free email service provider
  - `passed` boolean: If the email address passed all verification tests
  - `domain` string: The domain of the email address
  - `meta` string: Additional meta information

## Other responses

- `400`: No email address supplied
- `401`: Invalid API key
- `402`: Insufficient credits
- `403`: No API key provided
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Timeout
