# Promotes Artifact

`POST /v1/projects/{projectId}/artifacts/promotions`

An endpoint to promote artifact from one environment to another

## Path parameters

- `projectId` string, required

## Request body

- ArtifactPromotionRequest
  - `sourceEnvironmentName` string, required: The name of environment to promote the artifact from
  - `targetEnvironmentName` string, required: The name of environment to promote the artifact to
  - `versionName` string, required: The version of the artifact to be promoted

## Response `201`

Artifact promoted successfully

- ArtifactPromotionResponse
  - `environmentName` string: The name of promoted environment
  - `versionName` string: The artifact version name promoted

## Other responses

- `400`: Wrong request parameters used
- `403`: Unauthorized
- `404`: Artifact version name not found to promote
- `409`: Artifact version name conflicts. Already promoted to target environment
- `500`: Unexpected error occurred
