# Delete a document

`DELETE /v1/clients/{client_id}/documents/{document_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.magnetictax.com`
- URL: `https://api.magnetictax.com/v1/clients/{client_id}/documents/{document_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Removes a document. Refused (409) once the document is attached to a submission.

## Headers

- `Idempotency-Key` string

## Response `200`

Deleted

- object
  - `deleted` boolean
  - `id` integer

## Other responses

- `404`: Not found
- `409`: Attached to a submission. Also returned for an Idempotency-Key conflict — reused for a different request (`idempotency_key_reuse`), or the original request is still running (`idempotency_request_in_progress`)
- `429`: Rate limited — retry after the `Retry-After` delay
