# Cancel heartbeat

`DELETE /v2/heartbeats/{heartbeat_id}/`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `X-Api-Key`

Cancel an active heartbeat. Cancelling disarms the timer without closing any orders; only expiry triggers the order close-out. The response `data` field is always `null`.

- `heartbeat_id` string, required

## Response `200`

Heartbeat cancelled

- HeartbeatCancelEnvelope: Cancel response. `data` is always `null`.
  - `status` 'ok'
  - `data` unknown

## Other responses

- `401`: Authentication failed - API key missing, malformed, or rejected.
- `403`: Authorization failed - the key is valid but cannot perform this action.
- `404`: Heartbeat not found or already cancelled
- `429`: Rate limit hit. Honour the `Retry-After` header.
- `500`: Unexpected internal error. Quote `data[1]` (the token) when contacting support.
