# Vendor name only, plain text, no API key required

`GET /v1/vendor/{mac}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.macadress.com`
- URL: `https://api.macadress.com/v1/vendor/{mac}`
- Auth: none required
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/macadress/apis/macadress-com-api/docs/v1/vendor/:mac/get.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

The entire response body is the registered vendor name as text/plain, nothing else. Free and keyless: 1,000 lookups per UTC calendar day per client IP, plus a 60 requests/minute ceiling. Sending a valid API key lifts the daily cap to your plan's cycle quota (the first 1,000/day still don't draw it down) and applies your plan's requests/minute instead of the anonymous 60. Responses set 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *' and a cacheable Cache-Control.

## Path parameters

- `mac` string, required

## Response `200`

Registered vendor organization name

## Other responses

- `400`: Input did not parse as a MAC address. Body is "invalid mac address".
- `404`: Valid address with no vendor name to return. Body is "not registered" (prefix not in the current IEEE snapshot, or a private block) or "locally administered" (a locally administered address, the common privacy-randomized case).
- `429`: Daily grant used up (anonymous, with a Retry-After header) or the 60/minute burst exceeded; body "rate limited". For a keyed caller past the grant with no cycle quota left, body "over quota".
