# Install a license.

`PUT /api/systems/license`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://[tenant_id].logto.app`
- URL: `https://[tenant_id].logto.app/api/systems/license`
- Auth: OAuth 2 (client credentials, token URL `/oidc/token`, scopes: `all`)

Install a license key on this self-hosted deployment, replacing the installed license if there is one. The key's signature is verified against the public key built into Logto before it is saved, and a key past its expiration is rejected as a stale copy. Returns 501 on Logto Cloud.

## Request body

- object
  - `license` string, required: The license key to install, as issued by Logto Cloud.

## Response `204`

The license has been installed.

## Other responses

- `400`: The license key is invalid or has been tampered with, or it has expired.
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `501`: Licenses are only available on self-hosted deployments.
