# Announce the dataset to the DHT and serve it to peers, or stop doing both. Already published DHT records are not withdrawn, they stop being republished and expire.

`POST /data/{cid}/advertise`

## Path parameters

- `cid` string, required — Content Identifier as specified at https://github.com/multiformats/cid

## Query parameters

- `advertise` boolean, required

## Response `200`

Advertise state of the dataset

- AdvertiseState
  - `cid` string, required — Content Identifier as specified at https://github.com/multiformats/cid
  - `advertise` boolean, required — Whether the dataset is announced to the DHT and served to peers

## Other responses

- `400` — Invalid or non-manifest CID, or invalid advertise value is specified
- `404` — Dataset not found in the local node
- `500` — Well it was bad-bad
