# Area reported-crime context

`POST /api/locus_area_incidents`

## Request

Cited area-level reported-crime context for agents on crime from Cary CPD, Morrisville PD, Raleigh NIBRS, Charlotte CMPD, or NC SBI, SC SLED, and FBI CDE. An address resolves only to its city or county. City and area counts only; allegations, never street or block, person or case, a verdict, score, ranking, or prediction.
Use this when you can call Locus free tools (REST tools/call or MCP).
Use locus-area-crime-report instead when your client can only call paid x402 routes; it returns the same records. Direct flat-body route for this one free resource; no API key, payment, or catalog wrapper. Return only the cited bounded evidence described here; this route never produces a paid brief or full report.

  - `address` string, required: Required street address used to scope area reported-crime context, e.g. '123 Oak Park Dr, Cary, NC 27519'.
  - `radiusMeters` number: Optional radius in meters for point feeds when available; default 1000, max 5000.
  - `lookbackDays` number: Optional lookback window in days for point feeds; default 365, max 1825.
  - `includeSurveyContext` boolean: Optional boolean; include BJS NCVS caveats/context. Default true. National methodology context only, never a local estimate.
