# Reported tax/foreclosure distress COUNT + breakdown near a point (wired counties; free preview)

`POST /api/locus-tax-liens`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.locus.report`
- URL: `https://api.locus.report/api/locus-tax-liens`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `PAYMENT-SIGNATURE`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Returns itemized tax-delinquency, tax-lien, and foreclosure rows near an address from official county, treasurer, and sheriff sources, for agents reading cited public records. Use this when you need itemized public lien records and citations. Use locus_tax_distress instead when you only need a nearby count and breakdown, without individual lien records.

## Request body

- object
  - `address` string: Optional US street address or place; NC uses AddressNC first, other areas use the national geocoder fallback when latitude/longitude are not provided.
  - `latitude` number: Optional decimal latitude; provide with longitude to skip address geocoding.
  - `longitude` number: Optional decimal longitude; provide with latitude to skip address geocoding.
  - `radiusMeters` integer: Optional search radius in meters around the point; default 1500, max 8000.
  - `distressTypes` string[]: Optional filter to specific distress families (delinquent, tax_lien_sale, tax_foreclosure, mortgage_foreclosure, sheriff_sale, tax_auction, land_forfeiture); omit for all wired families.

## Response `200`

Atomic read result. A substantive result is paid; an empty/out-of-coverage result carries charged:false (x402 settlement suppressed).

- `400`: Invalid request body.
- `402`: Payment Required. For x402 v2, repeat the identical request with a valid PAYMENT-SIGNATURE header (legacy X-PAYMENT is accepted for compatibility), or use Authorization: Payment for MPP Tempo when advertised in x-payment-info.offers.
