# FEMA events: declarations, flood claims, map revisions

`POST /api/locus-fema-events`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.locus.report`
- URL: `https://api.locus.report/api/locus-fema-events`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `PAYMENT-SIGNATURE`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

FEMA disaster declarations by county, NFIP flood-claim history by ZIP, and preliminary FIRM panels at a point for agents checking past events. Returns the same records as locus_fema_events. Use this when your client can only call paid x402 routes. Use locus_fema_events instead when you can call Locus free tools (REST tools/call or MCP).

## Request body

- object
  - `address` string: Optional US street address; derives ZIP for NFIP claims and the point for preliminary-FIRM when geocodable. Explicit zip/lat/lng win over derived.
  - `state` string: Optional two-letter state code for disaster declarations; provide with countyFips3.
  - `countyFips3` string: Optional 3-digit county FIPS within state for declarations, e.g. 183 for Wake.
  - `zip` string: Optional 5-digit or ZIP+4 code for NFIP flood-claim history; overrides address-derived ZIP.
  - `latitude` number: Optional decimal latitude for preliminary FIRM panels; provide with longitude.
  - `longitude` number: Optional decimal longitude for preliminary FIRM panels; provide with latitude.

## Response `200`

Atomic read result. A substantive result is paid; an empty/out-of-coverage result carries charged:false (x402 settlement suppressed).

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request body.
- `402`: Payment Required. For x402 v2, repeat the identical request with a valid PAYMENT-SIGNATURE header (legacy X-PAYMENT is accepted for compatibility), or use Authorization: Payment for MPP Tempo when advertised in x-payment-info.offers.
