# Delete a reference-library upload

`DELETE /v1/user-assets/{userAssetId}`

Removes the item, its tags, thumbnails and hidden reference copy, and its file unless one of your images still uses it. Images you already added to characters, locations or scenes from it stay (`copiesKept`). Likeness declarations are kept as consent records.

  - `deleted` boolean, required: Always true.
  - `copiesKept` integer, required: Imports and promotions of the item into the user's characters, locations and scenes. They are copies and stay.
