# Create a scene

`POST /projects/{id}/scenes`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.livereacting.com/v1/external`
- URL: `https://api.livereacting.com/v1/external/projects/{id}/scenes`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Create a new scene in the project.

**Limits:**
- Maximum 300 scenes per project

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required: Scene name (1-60 characters)
  - `setActive` boolean: Activate this scene immediately

## Response `201`

Scene created successfully

  - `layers` Layer[]: Pinned layers (inherited from project)
    - `id` string: Unique layer identifier
    - `type` string: Layer type (e.g. videoPlaylist, image, text, audioPlaylist, video)
    - `name` string, nullable: Layer name
    - `nextScene` string: Only present when set — ID of scene to auto-switch to when playback finishes. Applies to video, videoPlaylist, and audioPlaylist layers.
    - `pinned` boolean: Only present when true — layer is visible on all scenes
  - `synced` boolean: Whether the new scene reached a LIVE or PREPARING stream (auto-sync on). A scheduled stream reads the project when it starts

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error or limit reached
- `401`: Authentication failed
- `404`: Project not found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
