# Stop an active stream

`DELETE /projects/{id}/live`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.livereacting.com/v1/external`
- URL: `https://api.livereacting.com/v1/external/projects/{id}/live`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Stop an active live stream for the specified project.

Only streams with status LIVE or PREPARING can be stopped.
Use [Cancel Scheduled Stream](#operation/cancelLive) to cancel scheduled streams.

**After stopping:**
The `liveId` returned in the response can be used with the [Broadcast History](#operation/getProjectHistory) endpoint to retrieve analytics and details about the past broadcast.

Stream stopped successfully

- StopLiveResponse
  - `message` string: Success message
  - `liveId` string: ID of the stopped live stream
  - `status` 'COMPLETED' | 'ERROR': Final status of the stream
  - `actualDuration` integer, nullable: Actual duration of the stream in seconds

## Other responses

- `401`: Authentication failed
- `404`: No active stream found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `502`: Platform error
