# Back up a database now

`POST /v1/databases/{databaseID}/backups`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.liara.ir`
- URL: `https://api.liara.ir/v1/databases/{databaseID}/backups`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Starts a manual backup of a running database. The bundle plan must support manual backups, and the number per hour depends on the bundle plan. Follow it with `GET /v2/databases/{databaseID}/operations-status`. Team permission: `operate` or `manage`.

## Path parameters

- `databaseID` string, required: 24-character hexadecimal ID.

## Query parameters

- `teamID` string: 24-character hexadecimal ID.

## Response `200`

The backup started. The response body is empty.

## Other responses

- `400`: The database ID or `teamID` is invalid, the database is off, or this type doesn't support backups.
- `401`: The API token is missing, invalid or expired.
- `403`: With `teamID`: you aren't a member of the team (`team_not_found`), or you don't have the required permission on this database (`no_permission`).
- `404`: No running database with this ID.
- `428`: The bundle plan doesn't support manual backups, or you've reached the hourly limit.
