# Api Law At Date

`GET /api/v1/{country}/laws/{law_id}/at`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://legalize.dev` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://legalize.dev/api/v1/{country}/laws/{law_id}/at`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Get the latest recorded version of a law dated on or before `date`.

Resolves the date to a version server-side, so callers do not have to walk
`/commits` looking for a SHA. The resolved `sha` and `version_date` come
back with the text so the answer stays verifiable.

Resolution uses the source's publication date where known, or the version's
explicit cutoff when no publication date is recorded. Selection does not
establish entry into force: a published reform may still be within its
vacatio legis. Check `version_date` and the source before citing;
`citation_url` opens the selected version.

**Read `text_state` and `kind` before quoting the body.** `consolidated`
identifies a dated consolidation. `current` is the source's latest text
and cannot establish what the law said on a historical date. `as_enacted`
means this revision holds the act as it was passed: if
`text_superseded` is true, what you are reading is *not* the version in
force on the date you asked for, `warning` says so in a sentence you can
show a human, and `amended_by` names the norms that changed it.

## Path parameters

- `country` string, required
- `law_id` string, required

## Query parameters

- `date` string, required: Point in time, YYYY-MM-DD

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- LawAtDateResponse: A law as it stood on a date, plus what that answer actually resolved to. ``sha`` and ``version_date`` are returned so the caller can verify the answer and cite the exact version, rather than trusting the date they asked for. ``citation`` is that same answer as one line to paste into a filing, in the language of the jurisdiction, and ``citation_url`` is the public page the other side can open to check it. Pass that URL on whole: its ``k`` is what lets it be opened from outside the site, and without it the page answers with the law in force instead of the version cited.
