# One article of a Georgian law: its text, the consolidation it is "as of", and its canonical URL.

`GET /api/law/article`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://legal.ge`
- URL: `https://legal.ge/api/law/article`
- Auth: none declared

With `as_of_date`, the wording legal.ge holds for that date. Where legal.ge's copy may be behind, `as_of.held` is false and `as_of.note` says the corpus has not been updated since its last fetch; it never implies the law did not change. Until the corpus exposes its version history, a dated request answers 503 AS_OF_UNAVAILABLE.

## Query parameters

- `law` integer, required
- `article` string, required
- `as_of_date` string, date

## Response `200`

OK

- LawArticleResponse
  - `consolidated_as_of` string, date, nullable: The consolidation the text is "as of"; null for an as-enacted text.
  - `legal_force` 'in_force' | 'not_in_force': Present only when legal.ge can vouch for it: never for a law whose text is stale, never while freshness is unknown.
  - `newer_consolidation_published` boolean: matsne has published a newer consolidation than the text legal.ge holds.
  - `freshness` 'current' | 'stale' | 'unknown'

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request. The `error.code` field is machine-readable; possible values: `QUERY_REQUIRED`, `QUERY_TOO_LONG`, `INVALID_BODY`.
- `404`: No such article in the corpus.
- `429`: Too many requests. The `Retry-After` header and `error.constraint.retry_after_seconds` both indicate when to retry.
- `503`: AS_OF_UNAVAILABLE (a dated request before the version history is exposed) or UNAVAILABLE.
