# Edit an unposted feed transaction

`PATCH /bank-transactions/{bankTransactionId}`

## Request

- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer and API key in header `x-organization-id`
  - HTTP bearer and API key in header `x-organization-id`

Edit memo (description), reference, payee (contactId), or class (classId) before posting. The row's class is copied to the category line when it posts. On posted rows only contactId may change (the customer/vendor posts nothing); other edits return 409 — un-post first, or use reclassify.

  - `reference` string, nullable
  - `contactId` string, uuid, nullable
  - `classId` string, uuid, nullable: Active class UUID from GET /classes, or null to clear
  - `allocationTemplateId` string, uuid, nullable: Class allocation UUID from GET /class-allocations; splits the category line across its classes on post. Setting one clears classId.
