# Create an account (optionally with an API key, for agents)

`POST /api/auth/register`

  - `createApiKey` boolean: true = return an API key in the response (agent flow)

## Response `200`

Account created. welcomeCredits is 5 or 0 (API signups share a global daily bonus quota).

  - `apiKey` string: Only when createApiKey: true. Shown once — store it.
  - `welcomeCredits` integer

## Other responses

- `409`: Email already registered
- `429`: Rate limited (5 signups/hour/IP)
