# Replace the sample of one of your voices

`PUT /voices/{voiceId}/sample`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.lazybird.app/v1`
- URL: `https://api.lazybird.app/v1/voices/{voiceId}/sample`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - API key in query parameter `api_key`

Clones one of your voices again from a new clean 10–30 second sample of one speaker. The voice keeps its ID, name and other details; speech generated from then on uses the new sample, and its preview clip is cleared. Counts as one voice creation toward the plan's monthly limit but uses no extra voice slot. Send either a `sample` file (multipart) or a public `sampleUrl` (JSON). `rightsConfirmed` is required when the voice is published.

  - `sampleUrl` string, uri, required: Publicly reachable URL of the new voice sample
  - `rightsConfirmed` boolean: Confirms you own this voice or the speaker consented to cloning it (see the Acceptable Use Policy). Required for published voices.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid input
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `422`: Plan limit reached (credits, voice slots or plan feature)
- `429`: Too many requests; retry after `Retry-After` seconds
- `500`: Server error
