# Create a managed database

`POST /managed_databases`

## Request body

- ManagedDatabasePayload
  - `data` object
    - `type` 'managed_databases'
    - `attributes` object
      - `name` string — Display name (optional)
      - `project_id` string, required — Project slug
      - `region` string, required — Target region
      - `plan` string, required — Plan slug (e.g. db.psql.small)
      - `engine` string, required — Database engine
      - `billing` 'monthly' | 'yearly' — Billing cycle (postgres/clickhouse). Defaults to monthly when omitted.
      - `parameters` object — Custom PostgreSQL parameters at create (postgres only)
      - `pooler` object — PgBouncer pooler configuration at create (postgres only)
      - `backup` object — Scheduled backup configuration at create (postgres only)
      - `recovery` object — Restore from a source database backup at create (postgres only)
        - `sourceDatabaseName` string
        - `backupId` string
      - `replica_regions` string[] — Optional. Reserved for cross-region read replicas (postgres only): accepted and validated, but replica provisioning is not yet active.
