# \[Beta\] Create a volume

`POST /api/v2/sandboxes/volumes`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.smith.langchain.com`
- URL: `https://api.smith.langchain.com/api/v2/sandboxes/volumes`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - API key in header `X-Tenant-Id`
  - HTTP bearer

**Beta:** This API is in active development and may change without notice. Requires sandbox volumes to be enabled for your workspace. Create an empty volume that can be attached to sandboxes at a mount path. The size is rounded up to a whole GiB.

## Request body

- SandboxesCreateVolumePayload
  - `description` string
  - `labels` SandboxesLabels
  - `name` string, required: Name is unique within the workspace.
  - `size_bytes` integer, required: SizeBytes is the volume's capacity, rounded up to a whole GiB.
