# Tailor resume for a job

`POST /v1/tailor`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.laddro.com`
- URL: `https://api.laddro.com/v1/tailor`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Rewrites a resume to match a specific job posting. Returns a PDF.

**Resume source:**
- `resumeId` — use a stored resume
- `file` (multipart) — upload a PDF
- Empty — uses your default resume

**Job (pick one):**
- `jobDescription` — paste the job description text
- `jobUrl` — provide a URL and we'll extract it

**Cover letter:** Set `includeCoverLetter: true` to also generate a cover letter. Returns a ZIP with both PDFs.

Costs 1 credit.

Supports both JSON and multipart/form-data.

## Request body

- TailorRequest
  - `resumeId` string, uuid: Resume to tailor. If omitted, the user's default resume is used.
  - `positionName` string, required: Job title you are applying for
  - `jobDescription` string: Full job description text. Either this or jobUrl is required.
  - `jobUrl` string, uri: URL to the job posting. The API will fetch and extract the description.
  - `mode` 'standard' | 'new': 'standard' rewrites existing sections. 'new' allows full restructuring.
  - `language` string: Language code for the output (e.g. 'en', 'de', 'fr'). Defaults to resume language.
  - `includeCoverLetter` boolean: Also generate a cover letter. Returns a ZIP with resume.pdf and cover-letter.pdf.
  - `templateId` string: Template for PDF rendering. Defaults to resume's saved template.
  - `colorId` string: Color scheme ID.
  - `font` string: Font family.
  - `spacing` number: Line spacing.
  - `margin` number: Page margin.
  - `fontSize` number: Base font size.
  - `pageNumbering` 'none' | 'simple' | 'fraction' | 'page'

## Response `200`

Tailored resume as PDF (or ZIP with cover letter if includeCoverLetter is true)

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing or invalid fields
- `401`: Invalid API key
- `402`: Usage limit exceeded
- `404`: Resume not found
- `502`: AI service failed
