# Fill fields on behalf of the sender

`POST /api/v1/documents/{id}/fields/values`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.korala.ai`
- URL: `https://api.korala.ai/api/v1/documents/{id}/fields/values`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - `bearer` (a scheme the document does not define)

Writes the data the sender already knows, so the signer is left with the signature. Works while the document is a draft and while it is out for signature. A signature or initials field belongs to the person who signs and is refused here, as is a field the signer has already filled. Each value is judged on its own and validated the same way a signer's fill is.

  - `values` FillFieldValueDto[], required
    - `fieldId` string, uuid, required: The field to fill
    - `value` string, required: What the field should hold. A checkbox takes "true" or "false"; a dropdown or a radio option takes one of its allowed values; a date takes the field's dateFormat. An empty string clears the field.

## Response `201`

  - `filled` number, required
  - `failed` number, required
  - `results` FillFieldResultDto[], required
    - `fieldId` string, uuid, required
    - `success` boolean, required
    - `error` string: Why the value was not written.
  - `stillToFill` RemainingFieldDto[], required: Fields still holding no value that the sender can fill, signatures excluded. Empty does not by itself mean the document can be signed: read blockingIssue.
    - `fieldId` string, uuid, required
    - `label` string
    - `fieldType` string, required
  - `blockingIssue` string: What would still stop the signer completing, judged by the same check the signing step runs, with the signatures taken as drawn. Absent when nothing but the signatures is left.

## Other responses

- `400`: Malformed UUID in path parameter (`id`).
