# Insect search

`GET /insect_id/kb/insect/name_search`

## Request

This endpoint is alpha beta testing and **can change**!

Search insect knowledge base by query. Entities are searchable by scientific names, common names (in specified language), synonyms.

Entity name and query are always matched from the start of a word., i.e. "Lucanus cervus" is searchable by "lucanus", "lucanu", "cervus", "cervu", "lucanus cervu"...

## Other responses

- `429`: Free daily trial limit reached for this client IP (10 queries / rolling 24 hours). The same status is also returned if the upstream Kindwise API is out of credits.
