# Place an outbound call

`POST /v1/calls`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://voice-api.kata.ai`
- URL: `https://voice-api.kata.ai/v1/calls`
- Auth: API key in header `X-Partner-Key`

Queues an outbound call and returns immediately with status `dialing`.
Follow the call through webhooks or `GET /v1/calls/{call_id}`.
Requires telephony to be enabled for your tenant; otherwise the call ends as `failed`.

## Request body

- object
  - `phone_number` string, required: Number to call, in international format.
  - `note` string: Free text stored with the call, e.g. your own reference.
  - `sip_call_to` string: Dial target when it differs from `phone_number`, e.g. an extension behind your PBX.

## Response `200`

Call queued

- object
  - `call_id` string
  - `status` string

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request body
- `401`: Missing, unknown or revoked partner key
- `402`: Less than one billing block of credit left; nothing was placed
- `403`: Tenant suspended
- `429`: Concurrency or daily limit reached
- `500`: The agent could not be dispatched
- `503`: A platform dependency is unavailable or the credit check could not run; nothing was placed
