# Start (or return) the workflow's Assistant session

`POST /v5/agent/workflows/{workflowId}/assistant-session`

Bootstraps the customer-facing Assistant lane for a workflow. Concurrent bootstraps converge on the same session; 201 marks a fresh start, 200 an already-existing lane.

Assistant already started

## Other responses

- `201`: Assistant started
- `400`: Workflow is not eligible for the Assistant
- `404`: Workflow not found for the authenticated team
- `502`: Bootstrap outcome unknown (ASSISTANT_BOOTSTRAP_OUTCOME_UNKNOWN) — re-send safely
