# Create an event space slot

`POST /events/{id}/slots`

## Request

Books a space of the event's venue for a day, optionally between two times. The space joins the event's `spaces`; a space with slots is only busy during them (conflict checks, availability). The event must have a venue. Pushes the change to the connected calendars. **Role permission:** `data.write`.

  - `space_id` string, uuid, required: A space of the event's venue.
  - `day_date` string, date, required
  - `start_time` string, nullable: HH:MM. Give both times or neither (whole day).
  - `end_time` string, nullable: HH:MM, different from `start_time`; before it = next day.
  - `label` string, nullable
  - `quote_item_id` string, uuid, nullable: A line of a quote of this event.
  - `sort_order` integer

## Response `201`

The created slot.

- SpaceSlot: A space (room) of the event's venue used on a day, optionally between two times. Times are the venue's wall clock (no timezone); no times = the whole day; an end before the start ends the next day.
  - `id` string, uuid

  - `day_date` string, date
  - `start_time` string, nullable
  - `end_time` string, nullable
  - `label` string, nullable
  - `quote_item_id` string, uuid, nullable: Quote line the slot was booked from, if any.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed (`invalid_request`). For a body that fails the schema, `details` holds `formErrors` and `fieldErrors`.
- `401`: Missing, invalid, expired or revoked bearer token (`unauthorized`).
- `403`: `forbidden`: the token lacks the scope, its owner's role lacks the permission named by the operation, or the workspace has neither the Pro plan nor a trial (`details.reason` `plan_not_eligible`).
- `404`: Not found in this workspace, or the id of the path is not a UUID (`not_found`).
- `409`: The event is archived, so read-only (`conflict`, `details.reason` `event_archived`). Unarchive it first (`POST /events/{id}/unarchive`).
- `429`: Too many requests (`rate_limited`). `details.reason`: `per-ip`, `per-account-minute`, `per-account-day`, or `email_rate_limited` (email budget). Always carries `Retry-After`: wait that many seconds.
