# Update an event space slot

`PATCH /events/{id}/slots/{slotId}`

## Request

- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `https://joinways.app/oauth/authorize`, token URL `https://joinways.app/api/oauth/token`, scopes: `mcp.write`)

Changes the space, day, times, label or quote line of a slot. `null` clears a field; `start_time` and `end_time` both `null` = the whole day. **Role permission:** `data.write`.

## Request body

- SpaceSlotUpdate: Every field optional; an omitted field keeps its value. `space_id`, `day_date` and `sort_order` cannot be null. `null` on `label` or `quote_item_id` clears it; `null` on both times makes the slot whole day (send both or neither).

## Response `200`

The updated slot.

- SpaceSlot: A space (room) of the event's venue used on a day, optionally between two times. Times are the venue's wall clock (no timezone); no times = the whole day; an end before the start ends the next day.

  - `start_time` string, nullable

  - `label` string, nullable
  - `quote_item_id` string, uuid, nullable: Quote line the slot was booked from, if any.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed (`invalid_request`). For a body that fails the schema, `details` holds `formErrors` and `fieldErrors`.
- `401`: Missing, invalid, expired or revoked bearer token (`unauthorized`).
- `403`: `forbidden`: the token lacks the scope, its owner's role lacks the permission named by the operation, or the workspace has neither the Pro plan nor a trial (`details.reason` `plan_not_eligible`).
- `404`: Not found in this workspace, or the id of the path is not a UUID (`not_found`).
- `409`: The event is archived, so read-only (`conflict`, `details.reason` `event_archived`). Unarchive it first (`POST /events/{id}/unarchive`).
- `429`: Too many requests (`rate_limited`). `details.reason`: `per-ip`, `per-account-minute`, `per-account-day`, or `email_rate_limited` (email budget). Always carries `Retry-After`: wait that many seconds.
