# Navigate a tab to a URL or macro

`POST /tabs/{tabId}/navigate`

Navigate to a URL or expand a search macro. Auto-creates tab if not found.

## Path parameters

- `tabId` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `userId` string, required
  - `url` string
  - `macro` string — Search macro (e.g. @google_search).
  - `query` string — Search query for macro.
  - `sessionKey` string
  - `listItemId` string

## Response `200`

Navigation result. Destination HTTP status is reported even when a rendered error page is available.

  - `ok` boolean
  - `tabId` string
  - `url` string
  - `httpStatus` integer, nullable — HTTP status of the final document navigation when available.
  - `navigationOk` boolean — False when the final document returned an HTTP status of 400 or greater.

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad request.
- `404` — Tab not found.
