# Set domain forwarding

`PUT /api/v2/domains/{domain}/forwarding`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.instantly.ai`
- URL: `https://api.instantly.ai/api/v2/domains/{domain}/forwarding`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Sets web forwarding on a domain ordered through Instantly. The forwarding domain must be a valid domain different from the domain itself. Returns a conflict error while the domain order is still being provisioned, and an unprocessable entity error when the requested forwarding configuration is not supported for the domain. This request has a rate limit of 10 requests per minute, or 60 requests per hour.


Requires one of the following scopes: `dfy_email_account_orders:update`, `dfy_email_account_orders:all`, `all:update`, `all:all`

  - `forwarding_domain` string, required: Destination domain visitors are forwarded to
  - `forwarding_mode` 'redirect' | 'stealth': How the forwarding domain is applied. Defaults to `redirect`.

## Response `200`

The requested Domain Forwarding

- DomainForwarding: Web forwarding configuration for a domain ordered through Instantly
  - `domain` string, required: The domain the forwarding configuration applies to
  - `forwarding_domain` string, nullable: Destination domain visitors are forwarded to. Null when no forwarding is configured.
  - `forwarding_mode` 'redirect' | 'stealth' | 'null', nullable: How the forwarding domain is applied. Null when no forwarding is configured.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid (e.g. missing required fields, invalid field values, or an invalid state for the operation)
- `401`: This request is unauthorized (either the Authorization header is missing or invalid, or the API key has been revoked)
- `402`: This request cannot be fulfilled because the workspace does not have an active paid plan
- `404`: The requested resource was not found
- `409`: The request conflicts with the current state of the resource
- `422`: The request is well-formed but cannot be processed
- `429`: You have exceeded the rate limit. Please check the rate limit docs for more information.
- `502`: The forwarding change could not be applied. Please try again.
