# Update an AI Sales Agent guidance rule

`PATCH /api/v2/ai-agents/sales/{id}/guidance-rules/{rule_id}`

## Request

Update the title or content of a guidance rule. Rules are stored as a single list, so concurrent writes to the same agent are last-write-wins — serialize them client-side.


Requires one of the following scopes: `ai_sdr:update`, `ai_sdr:all`, `all:update`, `all:all`

## Request body

  - `title` string: Short title of the rule
  - `content` string: The rule text the agent must follow

## Response `200`

The updated guidance rule

- object: A guidance rule the AI Sales Agent must follow when writing outreach. An agent can have at most 10 rules. Rule ids are positional (`rule-0`, `rule-1`, …) and re-index after a deletion.
  - `id` string, required: Positional rule id. Re-indexed after a deletion, so re-fetch the list after deleting a rule.
  - `title` string, required: Short title of the rule
  - `content` string, required: The rule text the agent must follow

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid (e.g. missing required fields, invalid field values, or an invalid state for the operation)
- `401`: This request is unauthorized (either the Authorization header is missing or invalid, or the API key has been revoked)
- `402`: This request cannot be fulfilled because the workspace does not have an active paid plan
- `404`: The requested resource was not found
- `429`: You have exceeded the rate limit. Please check the rate limit docs for more information.
