# Delete a message

`POST /bot/deleteMessage`

Deletes a message from a private conversation or chat. Returns an empty result when the message is deleted.

## Headers

- `authorization` string, required

## Request body

- DeleteMessageInput — Parameters for deleting a message. Exactly one target field is required.
  - `user_id` integer — Target a private conversation with this user. Supply exactly one of user_id or chat_id.
  - `chat_id` integer — Target this chat. Supply exactly one of chat_id or user_id.
  - `message_id` integer, required — Message to delete in the target chat.

## Response `200`

Successful response for an action with no return value.

- BotEmptySuccess — Successful response for an action with no return value.
  - `ok` true, required — Always true for a successful request.
  - `result` object, required — Method-specific response payload.

## Other responses

- `400` — The request parameters are missing or invalid.
- `401` — The bot token is missing or invalid.
- `403` — The bot is not allowed to perform this action.
- `404` — The requested method or resource was not found.
- `500` — The server could not complete the request.
