# Test a data source address or settings before saving it

`POST /v1/sources/test-connection`

Checks an adapter configuration against the live service without saving anything: `{"adapterType": "RssFeed", "config": {"feedUrl": "https://example.com/rss"}}`. Returns `success` and a plain-language `message` (a failed check is still a `200`). Use it before `POST /v1/sources`. Limited to 10 calls a minute per workspace.
