# Retrieve a file

`GET /v1beta/files/{file_id}`

Retrieve a file's metadata by its ID.

## Path parameters

- `file_id` string, required: The ID of the file to retrieve.

## Response `200`

Successful response

- File
  - `id` string, required: Unique identifier for the object.
  - `source` 'UPLOAD' | 'RUN_OUTPUT', required
  - `run_id` string, nullable, required: ID of the run that produced this file. Null for uploaded files.
  - `name` string, required: User-facing filename.
  - `size_bytes` integer, required: Size of the file in bytes.
  - `content_type` string, required: MIME type of the file.
  - `crc32c` string, required: Base64-encoded CRC32C checksum of the file content.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: Timestamp when the file was created.
