# Update status

`PATCH /statuses/{statusRef}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://inboxapp.com/api/v2`
- URL: `https://inboxapp.com/api/v2/statuses/{statusRef}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

## Path parameters

- `statusRef` string, required: A status, by ID or by name. Names match ignoring case and accents. When a value is one status's ID and another's name, the ID wins.

## Request body

- StatusUpdate: Omitted fields are left unchanged, and `null` clears a nullable field.
  - `name` string
  - `color` string, nullable: A color name from `GET /colors`, case-insensitive, or a 6-digit hex value. Stored as hex.

## Response `200`

OK

- Status: A pipeline stage on the team's board. A contact has at most one status.
  - `id` string, required
  - `name` string, required: Unique within the team, ignoring case and accents.
  - `color` string, nullable, required: A lowercase hex color.
  - `createdAt` string, date-time, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not Found
- `409`: Conflict
- `429`: Too Many Requests
- `500`: Internal Server Error
