# Get message history

`GET /messages/{messageId}/history`

## Request

- URL: `https://inboxapp.com/api/v2/messages/{messageId}/history`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Every version of the message's content, from its edits.

## Path parameters

- `messageId` string, required

## Response `200`

OK

- MessageHistory
  - `versions` object[], required: The original first, at the message's `createdAt`, then each edit.
    - `content` string, required
    - `createdAt` string, date-time, required
    - `origin` 'inbox' | 'platform' | 'api', nullable, required: Where the change was made: `inbox` in the app, `api` through this API, `platform` directly on the platform. Null on older records.
  - `deletion` object, nullable, required: Null while the message isn't deleted.
    - `deletedAt` string, date-time, required
    - `scope` 'self' | 'all', required: `self` deletes for the account link only, which needs `message:delete:self`. `all` unsends for every participant, which needs `message:unsend`.
    - `origin` 'inbox' | 'platform' | 'api', nullable, required: Where the change was made: `inbox` in the app, `api` through this API, `platform` directly on the platform. Null on older records.
  - `times` 'platform' | 'observed', required: Whether edit and deletion times come from the platform, or are when Inboxapp noticed the change.
