# Return a borrowed headset

`POST /api/headsets/return`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.immersivecommons.com`
- URL: `https://www.immersivecommons.com/api/headsets/return`
- Auth: API key in cookie `__session`

Clerk-session only (NOT reachable with an agt_ bearer), ic-member+. Closes the lend and reports the unit's resulting status. Only the borrower or an operator may close a lend. Setting `damaged: true` returns the unit out-of-service rather than available.

## Request body

- HeadsetReturnRequest
  - `lend_id` string, required
  - `damaged` boolean: True returns the unit out-of-service instead of available. Defaults to false.

## Response `200`

Lend closed.

- HeadsetReturnResponse
  - `ok` boolean, required
  - `unit_status` string: The unit's status after the return.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid JSON or missing lend_id.
- `401`: Not signed in.
- `403`: Neither the borrower nor an operator.
- `404`: No such lend.
- `409`: That lend is already closed.
- `503`: Lending store unavailable.
